CAT5e
CAT5e stands for Category 5e. It's a type of twisted pair cable used for Ethernet networking.
Speed and Bandwidth: CAT5e cables are capable of supporting speeds up to 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps) and frequencies up to 100 MHz. This makes them suitable for Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps) networks.
Construction: CAT5e cables consist of four twisted pairs of copper wires, usually terminated with RJ45 connectors. The twisting of pairs helps reduce crosstalk and electromagnetic interference.
Applications: CAT5e cables are commonly used in residential and commercial Ethernet networks, including home networking, small office setups, and enterprise environments.
Compatibility: CAT5e cables are backward compatible with older CAT5 cables, meaning they can be used in networks designed for CAT5 cables without any issues. However, CAT5e cables offer improved performance and are recommended for new installations.
Standards: CAT5e cables adhere to the TIA/EIA-568-B standard for structured cabling systems.
